Mechanical Engineer (Manifolds/Liquid Cooling)

Location: Columbia, Maryland or Glasgow, Kentucky, USA

Salary: $110,000–$130,000 USD per year, plus eligibility for a discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Lead CFD and FEA analysis across manifolds, air handling units, and related data center airflow and thermal-management products.
• Evaluate airflow distribution, pressure drop, thermal performance, heat rejection, structural integrity, vibration, fatigue, and thermal stress.
• Partner with mechanical design engineers from concept through production release and provide simulation-led design recommendations.
• Support customer-specific applications, bids, custom configurations, technical responses, and customer presentations.
• Correlate simulations with analytical and physical test results, guide prototype testing, and improve prediction accuracy.
• Standardize analysis workflows and documentation while mentoring junior engineers and cross-functional teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• Hands-on experience with CFD and FEA tools applied to HVAC and thermal-fluid systems for data centers or a related industry.
• Strong knowledge of fluid dynamics, heat transfer, HVAC systems, airflow management, structural mechanics, and materials.
• Ability to perform independent, end-to-end simulation work from setup through interpretation.
• Experience with CFD tools such as ANSYS Fluent/CFX, SolidWorks Flow Simulation, Autodesk CFD, OpenFOAM, or similar, and FEA tools such as ANSYS Mechanical, Abaqus, or NASTRAN.
• Clear technical communication and the ability to balance simulation accuracy with project timelines.

Nice to have

• Experience with CAD tools such as Onshape, SolidWorks, Creo, or equivalent.
• Scripting or automation experience with Python, journal files, or macros.
• Experience with data center infrastructure, liquid cooling, HVAC equipment, ASHRAE guidelines, or customer-facing engineering and pre-sales work.
• Master’s or PhD in mechanical engineering with a thermal/fluids or structural focus.
