Senior Database Administrator (ClickHouse)

Location: Fully remote, based in Spain. Relocation support is available to hubs in Armenia, Georgia, Serbia, Portugal, Poland, and Spain.

What you will do

• Own the reliability, performance, security, and cost efficiency of production ClickHouse clusters hosted on Kubernetes and managed services.
• Design architecture and tooling for dozens of multi-node clusters, including provisioning, configuration, scaling, upgrades, and migrations as code.
• Build monitoring, alerting, backup, disaster recovery, and regular restore-testing processes.
• Support developers, DevOps engineers, DBAs, and engineering leadership with schema design, data ingestion, query performance, and database operations.
• Automate routine database requests, respond to production emergencies, and lead database-side root-cause analysis and postmortems.
• Maintain documentation and runbooks and share operational knowledge with the infrastructure team.

Requirements

• Deep production DBA experience with ClickHouse, including storage, merges, replication, querying, schema design, and complex analytical SQL optimization.
• Experience designing automation for large database fleets and operating stateful workloads on Kubernetes in production.
• Production experience with a Kubernetes database operator such as CloudNativePG, Zalando Postgres Operator, Altinity, or the official ClickHouse operator.
• Experience with upgrades, backup and restore, large-data migrations, and zero- or minimal-downtime operations.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across queries, schemas, Kubernetes, Linux, storage, networking, cloud infrastructure, security, and observability.
• Infrastructure-as-code experience, programming or scripting skills, and clear communication with engineers and leadership.

Nice to have

• Contributions to the source code of a Kubernetes database operator.
• Practical use of AI tools for database observability or operational automation.
• Experience in highly regulated environments.
• Kubernetes or cloud certifications.
