Client Advocate

Location: Onsite at the Pleasanton office, Pleasanton, California, United States. Extended hours are required during peak tax season.

Salary: $90,000–$115,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Manage an assigned client portfolio as the escalated point of contact and lead client onboarding.
• Conduct client check-ins, gather feedback, provide updates, and identify additional service needs.
• Resolve Level 1 escalations, lead difficult conversations, negotiate solutions, and address recurring service issues.
• Coordinate Intake and Delivery pipelines, explain tax and accounting concepts, follow up on deadlines, process payments, and assemble returns.
• Delegate tasks to document specialists and administrative assistants while covering for other Client Success staff.
• Support onsite office operations, train front-desk staff, and escalate facilities issues when needed.

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant experience in client service, relationship management, administrative services, or a comparable client-facing role.
• Experience with conflict resolution and negotiation.
• Strong proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to explain technical information clearly to non-technical clients and manage sensitive information with discretion.
• Ability to manage multiple clients and priorities with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work onsite at the Pleasanton office and during extended peak tax-season hours.

Nice to have

• Experience leading or mentoring junior team members.
• Understanding of accounting and tax concepts and U.S. tax regulations.
• Familiarity with CCH, QuickBooks, Xero, UltraTax, or similar accounting and tax software.
