Prelim/Prepress Operator 3 (Print Production)

Location: Durham, North Carolina, United States; onsite role

Salary: $27.00–$38.32 per hour

What you will do

• Review client-supplied electronic files for completeness before plate production.
• Prepare page layouts for print dimensions, including folds, trims, bleeds, gripper areas, crop marks, and color bars.
• Identify file and production issues and coordinate solutions with customer service, customers, and production personnel.
• Load files for output, prepare color proofs, and operate imposition, CTP plate-making, bending, and tabbing equipment as needed.
• Inspect finished plates before releasing them to manufacturing.
• Train and support new and existing team members.

Requirements

• Experience with graphic design and page-layout software on Mac and PC systems.
• Thorough knowledge of PDF, TIFF, and EPS file formats across Mac and PC operating systems.
• Advanced color management skills and the ability to work with diverse digital file formats.
• Understanding of offset printing and color interaction during the printing process.
• Ability to output digital files to multiple devices and learn new graphics software continuously.
• Mechanical skills with small hand tools for minor repairs and maintenance of prepress equipment.

Nice to have

• Experience with Mac imposition software.
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite on PC.
• Military experience as a Lithographer, Combat Lithographer, or Printing and Bindery Specialist.
