Principal Engineer, Data and Services

Location: Jersey City, New Jersey, United States

Salary: $175,000–$220,000 per year

What you will do

• Architect and build scalable, secure, near-real-time data pipelines using GCP, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, SQL Server, and related technologies.
• Modernize legacy data systems and migrate platforms to cloud-native architectures.
• Develop data models, processing frameworks, APIs, and microservices for analytics, AI, operational use cases, and integrations.
• Enable AI/ML-powered data products, feature engineering, and real-time data flows in production.
• Implement data governance, lineage, cataloging, quality monitoring, access control, auditing, and privacy compliance.
• Automate data workflows and deployment through Python, orchestration tools, and CI/CD pipelines while collaborating with product, analytics, and engineering partners.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software or data engineering experience designing large-scale data platforms.
• Hands-on experience with data modernization, real-time data architecture, and cloud migration.
• Deep knowledge of GCP, including BigQuery, Pub/Sub, and Dataflow, as well as SQL Server and modern ETL/ELT patterns.
• Experience with data governance, lineage, security, compliance, API development, microservices, and event-driven systems.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, CI/CD, and scripting for workflow automation.
• Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.

Nice to have

• Experience integrating AI and ML capabilities into production data solutions.
• Experience evaluating GenAI/ML APIs and building AI-driven data products.
