Linguist III (AI)

Location: Onsite in Burlingame, California; Redmond, Washington; or New York, New York

Salary: $45–$50 per hour on W2

What you will do

• Provide linguistic expertise and deliver data for large language models and voice-enabled technologies.
• Collaborate with linguists and data operations teams on data collection, curation, and annotation.
• Evaluate and curate datasets for machine learning models using LLM solutions.
• Assess model performance and data quality.
• Perform prompt engineering and encode rule-based classifiers using regular expressions.
• Create labeling guidelines and develop consistent linguistic analyses for annotation projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in general linguistics, computational linguistics, or a related field.
• Experience with regular expression encoding, speech and text data, and linguistic data analysis.
• Proficiency in Python and experience with database queries, SQL, spreadsheets, or similar data analysis tools.
• Knowledge of syntax, semantics, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, corpus linguistics, and related areas.
• Familiarity with large language models, prompt engineering, and their applications.
• Strong organization, attention to detail, and verbal and written communication skills.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or PhD in linguistics, language technologies, computational linguistics, or a related field.
• Experience with machine learning frameworks, NLP libraries, conversational assistants, or ML support.
• 4–5+ years of experience working in a linguist role.
