TL;DR
Journeyman Information Security Systems Manager (Cybersecurity): Supporting DoD RMF assessment and authorization for data processing, test, and tactical systems with an accent on hardware and software security analysis, NIST controls, and system accreditation. Focus on evaluating vulnerabilities, maintaining eMASS authorization packages, documenting POA&M risks, and validating cybersecurity compliance across applications, systems, and networks.

Location: Huntsville, Alabama, United States; US travel up to 15% required

What you will do

  • Perform hardware and software cybersecurity analysis for data processing, test, and tactical systems.
  • Support DoD Risk Management Framework assessment and authorization activities.
  • Evaluate systems, applications, networks, security postures, capabilities, vulnerabilities, and applicable NIST controls.
  • Select and assess security controls, develop mitigations, complete accreditation packages, and manage authorization packages.
  • Identify and document security threats, residual risks, system requirements, and POA&M actions throughout the system lifecycle.
  • Coordinate validation, testing, compliance reviews, and risk analysis with system developers and technical teams.

Requirements

  • Meet DoD 8140 ISSM-Basic certification, education, and experience requirements.
  • Associate’s degree in engineering, IT, cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Experience with DoD STIG requirements, NIST RMF, IAVMs, ACAS, Nessus, SCC, and STIG Viewer.
  • Experience using eMASS to initiate, update, and maintain RMF packages and POA&M documentation.
  • Knowledge of NIST security controls, information system architecture and standards, and NIST SP 800-160 Systems Security Engineering.
  • Must be a US citizen and able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, IT, cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Interest in contributing to overall team success.
