Senior Technician II - Engineering (RF/Microwave)

Location: Onsite in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, United States. No travel. Access to export-controlled technology requires proof of U.S. citizenship, permanent U.S. residency, or protected-individual status.

What you will do

• Support the design, testing, checkout, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems, experimental circuitry, RF/microwave devices, and specialized test equipment.
• Work from schematics, diagrams, layouts, written descriptions, and defined plans to test, troubleshoot, and check out systems.
• Perform operational testing and fault isolation on systems and equipment.
• Help determine corrective actions for malfunctions and assist with test-equipment design, construction, testing, and checkout.
• Operate oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, test programs, and specialized diagnostic equipment.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in a related field.
• At least 10 years of experience with electronics assembly and testing.
• Ability to read and understand schematics and drawings.
• Experience with soldering and cable assembly.
• Proficiency in space-qualified construction and testing techniques, documentation generation, organization, and storage.
• Ability to multitask, learn quickly, work in a fast-paced environment, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Nice to have

• BS or BA in Engineering or Engineering Technology.
• J-STD certification for terminals and wires, through-hole technology, and surface-mount technology.
• Experience with high-precision timing, testing and measurement, ultra-high-vacuum systems, RF design, or FPGA programming.
