Materials Scientist (Ceramics/Dielectrics)

What you will do

• Lead multidisciplinary projects to develop and evaluate advanced ceramic and dielectric materials for high-voltage fusion environments.
• Design and execute experiments to characterize dielectric strength, resistivity, permittivity, and performance under extreme loading.
• Define electrical requirements, test methods, and acceptance criteria for insulating materials in high-field magnet systems.
• Translate material-level test results into actionable engineering requirements and design recommendations.
• Serve as the subject-matter expert for dielectric materials, providing technical guidance across R&D and engineering teams.

Requirements

• Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with electrically insulating and dielectric materials.
• Proven success in developing or qualifying materials for large-scale engineering systems like turbines, generators, or high-voltage assemblies.
• Experience planning and leading R&D programs with defined milestones and technical reviews.
• Strong communication skills for translating complex material behavior into design decisions for multidisciplinary teams.
• Must be able to work on-site in Everett, WA.
