Senior Research Engineer (Chemistry)

Location: Onsite in Uppsala, Sweden

What you will do

• Conduct hands-on experimental work in surface, polymer, organic, and material chemistry.
• Develop chromatography resins for bioseparation and provide technical expertise for research and development projects.
• Contribute to science projects, product development, and troubleshooting of existing processes.
• Perform primary characterization of materials and products.
• Plan and complete assigned project activities independently to achieve defined objectives.
• Document and communicate results in written and oral formats while collaborating across functions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree, or equivalent experience, in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in a similar R&D role, preferably within life sciences.
• Documented laboratory experience, preferably focused on organic or polymer chemistry.
• Fluency in English and Swedish, both written and spoken, is required.
• Structured, organized, collaborative, and delivery-focused approach with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with polysaccharides and/or synthetic polymers.
• Experience developing chromatography resins.
• Practical experience with conjugating proteins to polymers or polysaccharides.
• Good understanding of EHS requirements.
