Sr Earned Media Relations Specialist (Healthcare)

What you will do

• Secure earned media placements across national, international, regional, and local outlets.
• Develop news, feature, opinion, and expert commentary stories for consumer, medical, scientific, broadcast, print, and online media.
• Build and maintain relationships with journalists, with a primary focus on national media.
• Collaborate with clinical and laboratory investigators, faculty, administrators, and external stakeholders to develop communications strategies.
• Organize and accurately communicate information about research, medical discoveries, treatments, and programs while observing embargoes.
• Guide and mentor less experienced colleagues on routine media-relations processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, English, or a related field.
• At least 4 years of experience in communications, journalism, English, or a related field.
• Proven record of placements in national consumer and/or medical-scientific media.
• Experience integrating multimedia, social media, and online media strategies in a healthcare or scientific setting.
• Strong writing and editing skills, comfort with scientific concepts and medical language, and stakeholder-management experience are preferred.
• Regular and predictable attendance is required in Memphis, Tennessee.
