Senior Systems Engineer - Space, Viasat Government

Location: Remote within the United States, excluding North Dakota, Vermont, and Rhode Island

Salary: $120,500–$190,000 annually. For specific work locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area: $149,500–$224,500 annually.

What you will do

• Support mission architecture, concepts, system-level trade studies, and spacecraft architecture development.
• Develop, allocate, and maintain requirements across missions, spacecraft, subsystems, and interfaces.
• Develop operational concepts and spacecraft CONOPS, and support MBSE modeling with SysML-based tools.
• Coordinate interfaces across spacecraft, payload, software, and ground systems.
• Support integration, assembly, testing, environmental testing, verification, validation, and mission readiness assessments.
• Participate in HIL, SIL, mission simulations, LEOP, IOT, anomaly resolution, supplier interactions, and technical design reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, systems, electrical, mechanical engineering, physics, computer engineering, computer science, or a related field.
• 5–10+ years of experience in aerospace, spacecraft systems, mission engineering, or a related area.
• Experience with requirements development, systems integration, interface management, or verification.
• Familiarity with ADCS, EPS, propulsion, thermal, communications, payloads, and flight software.
• Experience with MBSE, SysML, or equivalent modeling methodologies, plus familiarity with Python, MATLAB, STK, GMAT, Ansys, or similar tools.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance are required.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a related discipline.
• Experience with LEO, MEO, GEO, or distributed satellite architectures.
• Experience supporting AI&T, launch campaigns, LEOP, or IOT.
• Familiarity with Jama, DOORS, Cameo, MagicDraw, or SysML.
• Experience with suppliers, distributed engineering teams, SATCOM, RF systems, networking, sensing systems, or government space programs.
