Senior Software Engineer (Repository, Go)

Location: United States — Remote

Base salary: $157,000–$184,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Own the technical direction of customer-facing repository registries, APIs, and artifact-serving systems.
• Design, build, and operate high-availability backend services in Go for libraries and future container, image, and APK repositories.
• Lead scalability, reliability, observability, and load-testing initiatives for production systems.
• Drive repository architecture, service boundaries, and operational patterns for artifact-serving infrastructure at scale.
• Collaborate with engineers across the organization to create a cohesive repository experience and support additional artifact types.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building and operating production backend or infrastructure systems, with senior-level ownership.
• Strong Go experience or deep backend systems experience with the ability to ramp up quickly in Go.
• Experience with customer-facing infrastructure such as package registries, artifact repositories, APIs, developer platforms, or high-scale serving systems.
• Experience deploying and managing production services, including reliability, observability, performance, and operational tradeoffs.
• Ability to work across application and infrastructure layers, including cloud infrastructure and Terraform.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills in a remote environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with Docker registries, GitLab package services, Artifactory, Nexus, or similar repository platforms.
• Knowledge of software supply chain security, provenance, SBOMs, and trusted artifact distribution.
• Open source experience in tooling, package ecosystems, or developer infrastructure.
• Experience supporting multi-artifact repositories across libraries, containers, or OS packages.
