Lead Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid in Bloomington, Illinois; candidates must live within a 180-mile radius of the hub and work from home and the office. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States immediately; visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: $120,000–$135,000 per year, plus potential annual incentive pay of up to 15% of base salary.

What you will do

• Design, build, test, secure, deploy, and support full-stack web solutions integrated with mainframe capabilities.
• Develop APIs, user interfaces, batch processes, data movement solutions, and integration patterns for billing and payment systems.
• Deliver enhancements and maintain stable, high-availability systems supporting agencies, operations, and customer contact centers.
• Participate in cloud migration, platform upgrades, container adoption, and modernization of mainframe capabilities into web technologies using AI.
• Diagnose complex production and non-production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term stability improvements.
• Mentor engineers, lead technical discussions, and influence product and technical direction.

Requirements

• Advanced experience developing and supporting Java enterprise applications.
• Experience with Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and React or Angular.
• Advanced knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL or DB2, including data design and integration patterns.
• Experience with mainframe, Linux, AWS, public cloud services, containers, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
• Experience with Git workflows, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, secure coding, and high-volume distributed systems.
• Experience mentoring engineers, leading design discussions, troubleshooting complex systems, and using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Codex, or OpenCode.

• Experience with hirify.global technology, organizational structure, billing and payment systems, or design systems.
