Patient Care Technician (Ortho Sg3 North)

Location: Palos Heights, Illinois, United States; onsite day shift, 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., with alternating weekends and holidays.

Salary: USD 17.05–23.02 per hour

What you will do

• Perform basic nursing care under the supervision of an RN, including monitoring vital signs, measuring blood glucose, and recording intake and output.
• Assist patients with bathing, grooming, eating, and other activities of daily living.
• Report abnormal findings and changes in patients’ physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
• Maintain clean and orderly patient rooms and respond to telephones, intercoms, and call lights.
• Coordinate unit workflow with the charge RN or assistant manager and communicate with patients, families, and related departments.
• Validate daily admission, discharge, and census lists as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification as a nursing assistant, medical assistant, or emergency medical technician, or completion of one semester of clinical nursing school.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification.
• Ability to demonstrate flexibility, organization, multitasking, critical thinking, and effective prioritization in stressful situations.

Nice to have

• Phlebotomy experience.
• Graduation from an accredited nursing assistant program or phlebotomy course.
