Payments Operations Analyst (Fintech)

Location: New York City, NY; on-site five days a week at the Soho office

What you will do

• Process merchant exceptions, holds, reserve adjustments, and merchant activation according to documented policies.
• Execute daily and periodic reconciliation across processor, bank, ledger, and merchant-settlement records.
• Manage disputes and chargebacks, including evidence collection, deadline tracking, submissions, and outcome follow-up.
• Process ACH returns and negative-balance events and investigate merchant-reported discrepancies.
• Monitor merchant activity, maintain runbooks and operational logs, and track PayOps KPIs.
• Identify bottlenecks and collaborate with Finance, Engineering, Support, and commercial teams on operational improvements and tooling.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in payments operations, reconciliation, dispute management, merchant operations, or a related function.
• Hands-on experience with payment workflows such as reconciliation, dispute processing, ACH returns, merchant management, and exception handling.
• Strong accuracy, attention to detail, operational discipline, and judgment about escalation.
• Ability to prioritize competing tasks, manage an independent queue, and communicate decisions and outcomes clearly.
• Experience with card payment operations or strong ACH expertise with willingness to learn card operations.
• Comfort adopting new tools, including automation and AI-enabled operational tools.

Nice to have

• Experience with B2B payments, billing, or invoicing platforms.
• Merchant underwriting, reserve monitoring, risk support, or payment processor and banking partner experience.
• Familiarity with reconciliation tooling, payment APIs, transaction data, cross-border payments, or multi-currency flows.
• Experience with automation tools or AI-enabled operational workflows.
