What you will do

• Assist with data-driven reporting projects on legal, tax, and government topics.
• Use routine data in daily news stories and long-term reporting projects.
• Perform newsroom work on deadline with accuracy and urgency.
• Collaborate with reporters and editors under deadline pressure.
• Engage with senior leaders and subject-matter professionals.
• Build a portfolio of published clips through hands-on reporting work.

Requirements

• Prior training or experience in data journalism is required.
• Examples of data journalism work must be available for the initial screening.
• Experience with Excel or Google Sheets is required.
• Ability to produce accurate reporting and work effectively under deadline pressure.
• Willingness to collaborate with reporters and editors.
• At the start of Summer 2027, completion of at least three years of an undergraduate program, recent graduation, or enrollment in a graduate journalism program is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with R or Python.
