2027 Summer News Internship: Graphics - Graphics/Data Visualization Journalist

What you will do

• Produce investigative data visualizations and quick-turn graphics driven by breaking news.
• Create digital experiences and interactive features that engage readers.
• Query and maintain databases supporting visual journalism projects.
• Work on deadline with reporters, editors, senior leaders, and expert professionals.
• Build portfolio-ready work while receiving mentorship, feedback, and coaching.

Requirements

• Examples of graphics or other visualization projects; samples will be requested during initial screening.
• Development experience with modern HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Experience with front-end frameworks such as Vue, Svelte, or D3, and browser graphics using SVG or Canvas.
• Prior training or experience in data visualization or graphics.
• Ability to collaborate and work accurately under deadline pressure, with a strong interest in journalism.
• By the start of Summer 2027, completion of at least three years of undergraduate study, recent graduation, or enrollment in a graduate journalism program is required.
