Software Engineering Manager (AWS/Embedded Systems)

Location: Irving, Texas, United States; onsite role at 3200 Hackberry Road

hirify.global operates a large network of convenience, restaurant, and fuel retail locations and develops technology for stores and forecourt sites.

What you will do

• Lead engineers developing, deploying, supporting, and improving forecourt applications for fuel dispensers, payment systems, and media displays.
• Design cloud-connected retail platforms that balance performance, reliability, scalability, security, maintainability, and cost.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership across embedded Linux, Java, Python, Node.js, REST APIs, AWS serverless services, and CI/CD.
• Integrate applications with fuel dispenser hardware, OEM platforms, payment systems, display protocols, and cloud services.
• Own device security, PCI/P2PE compliance, observability, incident response, and offline/online transaction resiliency across the field fleet.
• Mentor engineers, manage vendor relationships, coordinate delivery with product, InfoSec, IT, field operations, and business stakeholders, and evaluate emerging forecourt technologies.

Requirements

• 10+ years of relevant work experience and 5+ years of management experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent four-year degree.
• Experience in fuel retail, convenience retail, or another high-volume forecourt or store technology environment.
• Experience with fuel dispenser platforms or protocols such as Gilbarco, Wayne/Dover, Invenco, CRIND, SPOT, or Conexxus.
• Experience with embedded Linux fleet security, including TPM2, LUKS encryption, Secure Boot, or firmware update security, plus PCI/P2PE compliance.
• Ability to work onsite in Irving, Texas, United States.

Nice to have

• AWS or cloud architecture certification.
• Experience building self-service internal tooling, device management portals, or automation-first deployment systems.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools, agentic engineering practices, and SAFe Agile or comparable enterprise delivery methods.
