TL;DR
Government Relations Lead (Africa) (Fintech/crypto regulation): Supporting public policy and government relations across African markets, with an accent on fintech, cryptocurrency, DeFi, and digital identity regulation. Focus on building regulator relationships, monitoring legislative developments, coordinating market-entry policy work, and representing compliance technology at industry events.

Location: Remote, Africa. The role requires travel of up to 25% across priority African markets and internationally.

What you will do

  • Support public policy and government relations strategy across Africa, prioritizing Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, and Francophone West and Central Africa.
  • Build relationships with regulators, government ministries, law enforcement agencies, and industry bodies.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and provide actionable insights to global stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, and Product teams on policy advocacy, business goals, and market-entry initiatives.
  • Represent hirify.global at panels, roundtables, and conferences on compliance technology, digital trust, and risk management.
  • Prepare policy briefings, speaking materials, and position papers while coordinating with the global government relations team.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in public policy, government relations, or regulatory affairs.
  • Experience or exposure to regulatory frameworks in Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, or Francophone West and Central Africa.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Confident public speaking and strong relationship-building skills with policymakers and industry stakeholders.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% across priority African markets and internationally.

Nice to have

  • Experience in fintech, gambling, cryptocurrency, or DeFi.
  • French, Swahili, Afrikaans, or another African language.
