Antenna Intern (Winter 2027)

Develops, builds, and operates advanced high-orbit satellites and secure satellite communications networks for commercial, government, and military customers.

What you will do

• Design, build, and test antenna systems for current and next-generation satellite payloads.
• Use advanced design tools to develop high-performance communications antennas with on-orbit flexibility.
• Work with vendors to design and procure antenna and RF components.
• Validate component and system performance through anechoic chamber testing.
• Co-design antenna components and systems with mechanical, structural, thermal, and payload systems engineers.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled at a four-year university.
• Fundamental understanding of electromagnetics, antenna fundamentals, impedance matching, transmission lines, and circuit matching.
• Experience measuring components with vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and signal sources.
• Experience using industry-standard design tools such as CST, HFSS, or TICRA.
• Ability to use Matlab or Python scripting to solve engineering problems.
• U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or refugee/asylee status required.

Nice to have

• Experience with 3D printing, including Direct Metal Laser Sintering and Fused Deposition Modeling.
• Experience with link budget and system calculations, including EIRP, noise figure, and G/T.
• Experience designing waveguide components such as OMTs, multiplexers, diplexers, filters, and polarizers.
• Experience with reflector design.
