Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship

Location: Onsite at the Malta, New York Fab 8 semiconductor manufacturing facility. Flexible availability for alternating 12-hour day or night shifts is required.

Salary: $36,200–$59,200 per year, depending on qualifications, experience, and location.

What you will do

• Monitor, control, and test semiconductor equipment for manufacturing readiness.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on assigned equipment and tool sets.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electronic, pneumatic, PC, and software-related equipment issues.
• Recover equipment from process interruptions and complete event documentation.
• Communicate equipment status and shift handoffs to lead technicians, engineers, and production teams.
• Complete four HVCC college courses and 2,700 hours of on-the-job training during the 18–24 month apprenticeship.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; no prior experience is required.
• English fluency in written and verbal communication, plus basic reading and writing comprehension.
• Basic computer navigation skills, including Windows, Microsoft Office, and Outlook.
• Ability to work onsite in a cleanroom environment while wearing required cleanroom clothing and upgraded personal protective equipment.
• Ability to stand, walk, use hand tools, climb, bend, crawl, and use a computer for most of a 12-hour shift; periodic lifting of at least 50 pounds is required.
• Availability for alternating 12-hour day or night shifts, including three to four days per week depending on the schedule.

Nice to have

• Relevant experience in automotive repair, BOCES, HVAC, aviation, cable installation, telecommunications, electrical work, or computer routing.
• Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and electrical diagrams.
• Experience with hand tools, quality workmanship, structured troubleshooting, and problem-solving.
• Basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
• Experience reviewing statistical process control charts and participating in continuous improvement.
