Staff Engineer, Electromechanical Motor Design

Location: Seattle, Washington, United States; on-site

Salary: $187,000–$281,000 per year, plus bonus, benefits, and equity for regular full-time employees.

What you will do

• Own the design of electric motors and other electric machines for X-BAT and next-generation aircraft.
• Design wound-field motors, permanent-magnet motors, and mechanical structural components.
• Integrate motor designs with aircraft structures, engines, power electronics, and thermal systems.
• Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for motor components and subsystems.
• Release work instructions and documentation in collaboration with manufacturing.
• Perform prototyping, qualification, dyno and aircraft testing, including noise, vibration, and harshness testing.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in the mechanical design of electric motors.
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• Strong knowledge of materials, mechanics, dynamics, thermal analysis, design for manufacturing, and tolerancing.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD, GD&T, and linear and radial stack-up analysis.
• Experience delivering motor products from design through production and integrating them with power electronics.
• Hands-on experience with NVH testing, prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting.
