Senior Principal Scientist - Microscopy

What you will do

• Set the scientific and strategic direction for microscopy and cellular imaging across research programs.
• Evaluate, validate, and implement emerging microscopy technologies and scalable imaging platforms.
• Translate biological questions into imaging strategies, experimental designs, assays, and quantitative readouts.
• Lead and develop a multidisciplinary microscopy team, including mentoring scientists and imaging specialists.
• Oversee strategic, operational, workforce, and capital-equipment planning for the microscopy function.
• Build imaging infrastructure integrating automation, robotic acquisition, image-data management, cloud analytics, AI, and digital microscopy.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in cell biology, cellular physiology, developmental biology, molecular biology, bioengineering, biophysics, or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of relevant postdoctoral and/or industry experience.
• At least 5 years leading a microscopy core facility or equivalent scientific organization.
• Advanced expertise in microscopy methodologies, optical physics, instrumentation, fluorescent probes, automation, and quantitative image analysis.
• Experience managing scientific staff, multidisciplinary teams, projects, and stakeholder relationships.
• Strong publication record with leadership as a primary or senior contributor in microscopy-driven research.

Nice to have

• Recognized external reputation in biological microscopy or imaging sciences.
• Experience building or transforming an imaging core facility.
• Working knowledge of machine learning and AI-driven image analysis.
• Experience with spatial omics, multiplexed imaging, in vivo imaging, pathology, or translational biomarkers.
• Record of strategic technology adoption and innovation.
