Software Engineer I Co-op (FlowPlatform Team) (AI)

Location: Vancouver, Canada. 8-month co-op term.

Salary: CAD 3,500–4,700 per month

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and maintain internal tools and customer-facing web applications.
• Build automation tools that improve engineering productivity and operational efficiency.
• Contribute to cloud and infrastructure initiatives across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Analyze, reproduce, troubleshoot, and resolve application and infrastructure issues.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to Platform Engineering, DevOps, and DevSecOps initiatives.
• Use approved AI tools and engineering copilots for learning, coding, troubleshooting, testing, and documentation.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an applicable co-op program at BCIT, UBC, UVic, or SFU and able to apply through the co-op office.
• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience with at least one programming or scripting language, such as Python, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, or Go.
• Familiarity with Linux or Unix-based operating systems and Git or another source control system.
• Understanding of software development fundamentals, including debugging, testing, and problem solving.
• Familiarity with web technologies, APIs, or application development concepts, plus strong analytical and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Python, Bash, Docker, cloud platforms, or CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
• Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform or familiarity with Kubernetes, Ansible, or ArgoCD.
• Understanding of networking, HTTP, web services, relational or NoSQL databases.
• Personal, academic, open-source, or hackathon projects involving software engineering, automation, cloud, or AI.
