Journeyman Network Administrator (NSGS)

Location: Alexandria, Virginia, United States; hybrid position with required travel to remote operational locations

Salary: $90,000–$113,000 annually

What you will do

• Manage and resolve network support tickets with the Sustainment team.
• Configure and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, VLANs, and secure traffic routing.
• Test and deploy system updates, security patches, firmware, and operating system upgrades.
• Travel to remote operational locations on short notice to troubleshoot network failures and restore equipment.
• Monitor network performance, review logs, perform health checks, and maintain configuration documentation and topology maps.
• Coordinate with engineering leads and field technicians on hardware replacements, circuit troubleshooting, and standardized configuration workflows.

Requirements

• 6–9 years of experience or equivalent experience, with a high school education.
• Active Secret clearance required.
• DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification or higher, such as Security+ CE or CySA+.
• Experience administering enterprise or federal networks and managing daily ticket queues.
• Hands-on experience configuring routers, switches, and firewalls, as well as deploying network updates and security patches.
• Ability to travel to remote locations for high-priority troubleshooting and equipment restoration.

Nice to have

• U.S. Coast Guard, Sustainment, C5I, or similar federal network support experience.
• CCNA or CompTIA Network+ certification.
• Experience with remote access configurations, secure enclaves, or maritime and military network architectures.
• Experience with SolarWinds, Cisco DNA Center, Ansible, or similar monitoring and automation platforms.
• Knowledge of federal change management and military cybersecurity compliance requirements.
