Staff Software Engineer (C#/Azure)

Location: Onsite in Pleasanton, California, Monday through Friday

Base annual salary: $179,000–$218,000; annual bonus up to 10%

What you will do

• Set the technical vision, architecture, standards, and roadmaps for the backend platform across multiple teams and services.
• Architect distributed, cloud-native systems on Microsoft Azure, balancing performance, cost, resiliency, and operational simplicity.
• Design high-throughput RESTful and event-driven APIs for frontend applications, internal tools, and third-party integrations.
• Define scalable SQL and NoSQL data architectures, including modeling, partitioning, sharding, caching, and performance optimization.
• Establish secure authentication, authorization, observability, monitoring, and incident-response practices.
• Lead architecture reviews, technical strategy, code reviews, cloud modernization, mentoring, and hands-on work on complex engineering problems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8–10+ years of software engineering experience with backend and distributed systems, including systems and solutions architecture.
• Strong hands-on expertise with C#, ASP.NET Core/MVC, Microsoft Azure, distributed systems, RESTful and event-driven APIs, and SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with asynchronous programming, concurrency, caching, performance optimization, high availability, authentication and authorization frameworks, Docker, Kubernetes/AKS, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code.
• Demonstrated technical leadership, cross-team influence, mentoring, communication, problem-solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work onsite in Pleasanton, California, Monday through Friday.

Nice to have

• Experience with event-driven architecture, message queues, pub/sub, Azure Service Bus, Event Grid, Event Hubs, or Kafka.
• Experience leading cloud migrations or monolith-to-microservices modernization efforts.
• Experience with third-party API integrations and high-traffic, multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
• Exposure to React or Azure architecture and DevOps certifications.
