Payroll Specialist (Payroll/Fintech): Processing accurate, compliant full-cycle payroll across multiple states, entities, frequencies, and employee populations with an accent on payroll data integrity, commissions, audits, and employee support. Focus on reconciling complex payroll inputs, resolving discrepancies, maintaining HRIS and timekeeping data, and meeting high-volume processing deadlines.

What you will do
- Process assigned full-cycle payrolls across multiple frequencies, entities, states, and employee populations.
- Validate hours, earnings, deductions, tax elections, adjustments, commissions, and timekeeping data.
- Execute regular and off-cycle payrolls, corrections, audits, reconciliations, and year-end W-2 activities.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and HRIS/payroll system data while preparing standard reports.
- Respond to employee and stakeholder payroll inquiries, resolve discrepancies, and escalate complex or high-risk issues.
- Identify recurring issues and support process improvement, training, and cross-functional collaboration.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience in payroll, HR, accounting, finance, or related operations.
- Experience with multi-state or high-volume payroll processing and confidential information.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, customer service, stakeholder management, and deadline management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel for data validation, formulas, and reconciliation.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Comfort with an on-site presence in Grand Rapids is required.
Nice to have
- Experience with Workday, ADP, UKG, or a similar payroll system.
- Experience with multi-entity payroll, complex payroll inputs, or payroll populations of approximately 3,000 employees.
- Exposure to payroll compliance, audits, reporting, and centralized payroll operations.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
