Summer 2027 Internship - Software Engineer (Hybrid) (AI)

Location: Columbia, Maryland, US; hybrid work with an average of 1–2 days per week onsite at the Columbia office

Salary: $22.00–$32.00 per hour

What you will do

• Develop backend services and frontend interfaces.
• Support modern, responsive web UI development.
• Integrate technologies and applications across the software stack.
• Participate in application development, user interface development, and system testing.
• Use advanced AI coding agents, including Claude Code or Google agentic workflows.
• Iterate rapidly with the software development team.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance are required.
• High school diploma or equivalent and current enrollment in a relevant Bachelor's degree program with more than 60% of required credits completed.
• Programming experience with Java, Kotlin, Python, JavaScript, modern JavaScript frameworks, Node, and/or CSS.
• Knowledge of databases, query processing, SQL, RESTful web services, object-oriented programming, and software design practices.
• Experience with configuration management tools such as Git, Nexus, or Maven, plus understanding of the agile software lifecycle.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment and attend the Columbia, Maryland office an average of 1–2 days per week.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of cloud technologies such as AWS or Azure.
• Experience with Linux.
• Current security clearance.
