TL;DR
AI Engineer (LLM Agents/RAG): Building and operating production AI agent systems for healthcare staffing with an accent on agent orchestration, tool calling, retrieval, and evaluation. Focus on designing durable asynchronous workflows, improving reliability and observability, and measuring agent behavior and retrieval quality in production.
Location: Remote — United States or Latin America
US compensation: $170,000–$230,000+ annual base, depending on experience and scope. A separate, lower regional range applies for Latin America.

What you will do
- Build and improve production LLM agents and the orchestration layer that controls execution.
- Design tool-calling systems with robust interfaces, validation, error handling, and recovery.
- Develop retrieval pipelines using structured filters, keyword search, embeddings, and reranking.
- Build repeatable evaluations and experiments for agent behavior, retrieval quality, and regressions.
- Implement durable asynchronous workflows supporting retries, interruptions, and long-running tasks.
- Investigate production failures and improve reliability, latency, cost, and observability.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience building, deploying, and operating production LLM agent systems.
- Strong backend engineering fundamentals and TypeScript experience or proficiency in an equivalent backend language.
- Experience with agent orchestration, execution control, state management, and tool use.
- Experience with RAG or search systems, including filtering, keyword retrieval, embeddings, and reranking.
- Experience building repeatable evaluations, comparing approaches, and identifying meaningful improvements.
- Experience with asynchronous processing and reliable workflows, plus the ability to explain architectural decisions and production trade-offs.
Nice to have
- Experience in healthcare, staffing, recruiting technology, or related workflows.
- Staff-level technical ownership across architecture, delivery, and production operation.
- Experience improving retrieval quality and downstream agent task completion.
