Senior Software Engineer (Distributed Systems)

Salary: $200,000–$287,000 per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Identify strategically important problems, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement in FoundationDB.
• Own projects end to end, from solution design and implementation through testing and safe production rollout.
• Design and implement high-performance systems for increasing database request rates.
• Build next-generation transaction, caching, storage engine, and multitenant capabilities.
• Analyze performance and scalability bottlenecks, instrument system components, and implement solutions.
• Promote best practices in database usage and end-to-end architecture.

Requirements

• 6+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
• Systems programming experience with multithreading and concurrency.
• Fluency in C++, C, or Java.
• Experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems or web services.
• Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science; a master’s degree or PhD is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with scalable key-value stores such as FoundationDB, RocksDB, LevelDB, DynamoDB, or Redis.
• Experience delivering complex distributed systems projects.
