TL;DR
D&E Lab Technician (Electrical and Mechanical Systems): Supporting the development of lithography machines through hands-on electrical and mechanical assembly, prototyping, testing, diagnostics, and laboratory coordination with an accent on instrumentation, safety, calibration, and 3D rapid prototyping. Focus on maintaining development labs, troubleshooting complex systems, operating test equipment, and producing functional prototypes through laser cutting and 3D printing.

Location: On-site in Wilton, Connecticut, United States, with daily onsite presence required.

What you will do

  • Own and coordinate one or more design and engineering laboratories, including space requests, access approvals, scheduling, inventory, and customer communication.
  • Set up, operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical test equipment, test stands, prototypes, and lab facilities.
  • Read and use wiring diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation to assemble, wire, commission, and modify systems.
  • Support safety, housekeeping, 5S+1, PPE, LOTO, EHS, ISO, UL, OSHA, and NFPA requirements.
  • Run laser-cutting and 3D-printing jobs, post-process prototypes, maintain rapid-prototyping equipment, and build simple jigs.
  • Coordinate repairs, supplies, external prototyping suppliers, continuous improvement activities, and cross-lab support.

Requirements

  • High school diploma with 5 years of relevant experience; technical certification with 3 years; associate degree with 3 years; or bachelor's degree in engineering, electrical, or mechanical engineering with 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Required analytical and pragmatic approach to troubleshooting.
  • Required proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Broad hands-on technical knowledge of mechanical and mechatronic systems, with the ability to interpret complex plans, data, and technical documents.
  • Must be legally authorized to access controlled technology under United States export regulations before starting employment.
  • Must commute to the Wilton facility and work onsite daily; the role may require standing or sitting for up to 12 hours per day, five days per week.

Nice to have

  • Experience owning or supporting a product test laboratory.
  • Cleanroom experience and knowledge of reliability and safety practices.
  • 5S, Lean, TQM, or other quality improvement experience.
  • Project management experience and familiarity with MS Visio or Planner.
