Hardware Systems Lead (Medical Devices)

Location: Onsite in Lafayette, Colorado, or Santa Clara, California, United States. Candidates must have unrestricted U.S. work authorization at the time of hire and throughout employment. H-1B, TN, and J sponsorship is offered only for Principal-level roles and above.

Salary: $150,400–$225,600 annually for U.S. locations, excluding Puerto Rico and specific California locations.

What you will do

• Define and maintain system architectures spanning electronics, embedded firmware, mechanical subsystems, RF communications, and software interfaces.
• Translate user, product, and business requirements into system and subsystem specifications.
• Lead technical tradeoff analyses covering power consumption, RF performance, component selection, manufacturability, reliability, and cost.
• Coordinate PCB, firmware, antenna, enclosure, and subsystem integration activities.
• Drive system integration, resolve cross-functional technical issues, and partner with software engineering on interfaces, integration strategies, and verification plans.
• Lead design reviews, risk management, verification planning, validation readiness, and compliance activities with manufacturing, quality, and regulatory teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of relevant engineering experience, or an advanced degree with 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• Experience defining system architectures for complex electromechanical and embedded hardware products.
• Experience leading technical integration across hardware, firmware, mechanical, and software teams.
• Experience with system-level verification, validation, and technical risk management.
• Ability to translate product requirements into subsystem specifications and system design decisions.
• Unrestricted U.S. work authorization is required; sponsorship is not available for this role.
