Software Engineer (RF and Optical Systems)

Location: Onsite in the Greater Seattle Area, WA or Bay Area, CA. Temporary remote work may be approved while the local site is developed. Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.

Base pay for Washington applicants: $134,961–$188,945.40 annually. Pay ranges may differ by site.

hirify.global develops reusable space vehicles and systems and is building TeraWave, a space-based communications network using optically interconnected satellites in LEO and MEO.

What you will do

• Design and develop multithreaded embedded software in C and C++.
• Contribute to the control and data plane architecture of the TeraWave constellation.
• Integrate software with hardware systems and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.
• Document designs, participate in code reviews, and contribute to technical discussions.
• Troubleshoot and debug software and hardware issues using telemetry, logs, traces, instrumentation, GDB, JTAG, and related tools.
• Develop unit and integration tests, automation, and CI/CD integrations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 1 year of embedded software development experience in C/C++ for Linux, RTOS, or bare-metal platforms.
• Strong knowledge of C++ object-oriented design and implementation.
• Knowledge of embedded debugging tools and standard peripheral interfaces including SPI, I3C, I2C, PCIe, and CAN.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, refugee, or person granted asylum.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or PhD in a relevant engineering or computer science field.
• At least 2 years of embedded software development experience for mission-critical systems.
• Experience with Linux networking and inter-core or inter-processor communications.
