Onboard Software Engineer - Core Services (Space Software)

Location: Golden, Colorado, United States; on-site

Salary: $140,000–$205,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, implement, and refine reliable onboard software with ownership from concept through delivery.
• Develop high-level vehicle services for file transfer, time synchronization, automation, scheduling, attitude control, and navigation.
• Review code, provide feedback, and contribute to development processes, design standards, and software architecture.
• Design and implement unit tests for new and peer-authored code.
• Use Git and coordinate software releases with downstream teams.
• Participate in operating the on-orbit satellite fleet.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of software engineering experience.
• Programming experience with C/C++ including C++11 or newer and Python.
• Experience with Git, continuous integration tools such as GitLab CI or Jenkins, and build systems such as Make or CMake.
• Understanding of distributed architecture, networking protocols including UDP, TCP, and IP, and POSIX standards.
• Experience developing multi-threaded applications.
• Ability to work on-site in Golden, Colorado, United States.

Nice to have

• Go or Rust programming experience.
• Embedded Linux experience with Yocto, device trees, systemd, and Linux on ARM.
• Experience with pytest, Googletest, Unity, Robot, or Cucumber.
• Experience with gRPC, ZMQ, NATS, Docker, K3S, or systemd-nspawn.
