Onboard Software Engineer - Hyperdrive (Spacecraft)

Location: Golden, Colorado, United States. Workplace: On-site.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and refine reliable onboard software for the Hyperdrive platform.
• Build capabilities supporting mission logic, spacecraft interactions, housekeeping, events, automated fault detection and recovery, and lifecycle management.
• Review code, provide feedback, and maintain development processes, style guides, and design standards.
• Design unit tests and contribute to software architecture through design proposals and collaborative reviews.
• Coordinate the release, distribution, and adoption of software releases with downstream teams.
• Participate in operating the on-orbit satellite fleet.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong programming experience with C/C++ including C++11 or newer, and Python.
• Experience with Git or other version control systems, continuous integration tools such as GitLab CI or Jenkins, and build systems such as Make or CMake.
• Experience with library management, ABI/API version control, distributed architecture, multithreaded applications, and networking protocols including UDP, TCP, and IP.
• Understanding of POSIX standards.

Nice to have

• Experience with Go or Rust, embedded Linux, Yocto, device trees, systemd, and Linux on ARM platforms.
• Proficiency with unit testing frameworks such as pytest, Googletest, or Unity.
• Experience with middleware frameworks including gRPC or ZMQ/NATS.
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker, K3S, or systemd-nspawn.
