Senior Mainframe Software Engineer

Location: Hybrid in Brussels or Paris

Contract: 12 months + extension
Start: October 2026

hirify.global is recruiting for a software engineering role focused on complex mainframe systems and modernization initiatives.

What you will do

• Develop, design, and implement scalable solutions across complex mainframe systems.
• Own features end to end, from analyzing business requirements and technical impact through delivery.
• Troubleshoot production issues using logs, monitoring, and enterprise application monitoring tools.
• Contribute to mainframe modernization, cloud migration, automation, AI integration, and Infrastructure as Code initiatives.
• Integrate legacy and modern platforms using APIs, messaging, web services, and CI/CD practices.

Requirements

• Senior-level software engineering, system architecture, and solution design experience.
• Hands-on experience with PL/I, SQL, DB2 Stored Procedures, PL/SQL, JCL, CICS, and CICS Web Services.
• Strong knowledge of Mainframe DB2, VSAM, and relational databases.
• Experience with File Manager, SPUFI, QMF, Fault Analyzer, Git, CI/CD, APIs, MQ Series, Linux, SOAP UI, and z/OS Connect.
• Experience with advanced Git workflows, testing and quality standards, secure coding, dependency management, and production troubleshooting.
• Good knowledge of Agile methodologies and strong English communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in Credit Management, Payments, Treasury, or Banking Operations.
• Mainframe modernization or migration experience, including legacy and modern platform integration.
• Background in Machine Learning, Data Science, or Generative AI.
• Leadership and strong interpersonal skills.
