HPC Linux Systems Engineer

Location: Milpitas, California, United States

Base pay: $136,300–$199,900 annually.

What you will do

• Architect, deploy, and support Kubernetes clusters on enterprise Linux platforms across HPC environments.
• Design and optimize scalable Linux compute infrastructure with a focus on performance, reliability, availability, and automation.
• Lead networking architecture and troubleshooting across servers, switches, storage systems, and Kubernetes environments.
• Support CPU- and GPU-based HPC clusters, scalable storage architectures, and high-bandwidth interconnects.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and lifecycle management using scripting and configuration management tools.
• Collaborate with hardware vendors on solution definition, validation, qualification, release, and deployment.

Requirements

• Deep experience administering and troubleshooting Red Hat, Rocky Linux, Ubuntu, and SUSE environments.
• Production experience designing, deploying, and maintaining Kubernetes clusters.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP, routing, switching, and network troubleshooting.
• Experience with HPC architectures, GPU platforms, storage systems, BIOS/BMC technologies, SystemD, PXE/NetBoot, and Linux High Availability.
• Proficiency in Shell and Python scripting, Infrastructure as Code, and configuration management tools such as Ansible, Salt, Chef, or Puppet.
• Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of related experience, Master’s degree with 3 years, or Doctorate with 0 years of related experience.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting Kubernetes platforms for HPC, AI/ML, or GPU-intensive workloads.
• Familiarity with cloud-based compute architectures and hybrid infrastructure.
• Experience optimizing networking and storage for large-scale distributed compute systems.
