Senior Software Engineer (Python)

Location: Netherlands; hybrid. The role requires the right to work in the territory to which it relates, including the UK and EU.

What you will do

• Design, build and maintain real-time voice and Generative AI applications with Python and asynchronous frameworks.
• Develop and optimise backend microservices using FastAPI, Uvicorn, Asyncio, Pydantic and SQLAlchemy.
• Build REST API integrations with external enterprise systems and support WebSocket-based communication.
• Use Azure services including App Service, Azure Cache for Redis, Azure Speech Services, Azure OpenAI, Microsoft SQL, Key Vault and Storage Accounts.
• Implement observability with OpenTelemetry and Azure Application Insights, and contribute to Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
• Provide customer-facing technical guidance and participate in an out-of-hours callout rota for critical production support.

Requirements

• Commercial experience as a Senior Python Developer or Software Engineer.
• Strong expertise in asynchronous Python and complex asynchronous architectures.
• Hands-on experience with FastAPI, Uvicorn, Asyncio, SQLAlchemy, Pydantic, Alembic and Pytest.
• Experience with REST API design, WebSocket communication and Microsoft Azure environments.
• Experience operating production systems with structured monitoring and observability.
• Ability to work directly with customers on technical workshops, troubleshooting and solution design.

Nice to have

• Experience designing voice-based user experiences.
• Background in financial services or customer service organisations.
• Exposure to Vue.js or other modern JavaScript frameworks.
• Understanding of large-scale, event-driven or real-time transactional systems.
