Sr. Mechanical Engineer (Humanoid Robotics)

What you will do

• Own the whole-body mechanical structure, including the torso frame, limb skeletons, joint interfaces, drive integration, and outer shell.
• Define mass budgets, center-of-mass targets, structural envelopes, and joint layouts with systems, actuation, and control teams.
• Design lightweight, high-stiffness structures using topology optimization, generative design, and structural, modal, and thermal FEA.
• Integrate actuators, battery packs, compute units, and sensors with electrical and thermal teams while ensuring service access and thermal dissipation.
• Manage CAD development from concept through fabrication, including tolerance analysis, DFM/DFA, PLM/PDM control, and BOM management.
• Lead drop, shock, load, vibration, and fatigue validation tests with the V&V team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of mechanical structural design experience in humanoid or quadruped robotics, aerospace, automotive, or advanced machinery.
• Mastery of SolidWorks, NX, or Creo with a proven concept-to-hardware production track record.
• Strong knowledge of harmonic reducers, planetary gears, linkage mechanisms, FEA, and lightweight structural design.
• Hands-on experience with precision machining, sheet metal, composite layup, 3D printing, lab testing, mass-production tooling, and mold qualification.
• Experience analyzing mass-production issues and optimizing designs for manufacturing.

Nice to have

• Direct experience designing humanoid, quadruped, or exoskeleton robot structures.
• Multi-body dynamics simulation with Adams or RecurDyn and drop or impact simulation experience.
• Carbon-fiber composite design and manufacturing expertise.
• Experience with high-volume DFM, injection molding, or die casting.
• Comfort communicating technical topics in English with international teams.
