Facade Engineer (Building Physics)

Location: Full-time, based in Sydney, NSW, Australia

What you will do

• Develop facade design solutions from concept through detailed design and construction.
• Analyze building-envelope performance and apply building physics principles to thermal, acoustic, moisture, energy, solar-control, ventilation, and comfort outcomes.
• Prepare technical drawings and reports using CAD/BIM and facade or building-physics analysis tools.
• Review design documentation for compliance with relevant codes, standards, and sustainability targets.
• Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and other consultants in design meetings and project delivery.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of sustainable facade design methodologies.

Requirements

• Strong facade design and facade engineering skills, including concept development and detailed building-envelope design.
• Knowledge of building-envelope thermal, moisture, and acoustic behavior and integration with overall building systems.
• Structural engineering knowledge relevant to facade systems, including load paths, fixings, and material behavior.
• Expertise in building physics, including energy performance, solar control, ventilation, and comfort analysis.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in civil, structural, or mechanical engineering, building science, or a related discipline.
• Experience with facade materials and systems such as glass, metals, cladding, and shading devices, plus relevant standards and codes.

Nice to have

• Previous experience in consultancy or building design projects.
• Strong fundamentals and eagerness to learn sustainable facade design practices.
