Communications Manager (Biotechnology)

What you will do

• Lead the development and implementation of strategic internal and external communications plans aligned with departmental goals.
• Create and oversee high-quality content and visual assets for websites, newsletters, media releases, social media, videos, print publications, and promotional channels.
• Translate complex research, education, and outreach achievements into accessible communications for researchers, students, journalists, partners, and the public.
• Manage visual identity standards, templates, brand consistency, communication project timelines, budgets, reporting, and contingency planning.
• Measure engagement and communication performance, build audience networks, and recommend improvements.
• Coordinate events, seminars, trainee content teams, media relations, campus partnerships, and external collaborations.

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline and at least five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in strategic communications planning, project management, marketing, journalism, media relations, or public relations.
• Experience developing digital and non-digital communications for diverse audiences and managing projects within time and resource constraints.
• Advanced ability to use social media platforms, graphic design software such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, website content management systems such as WordPress, and Microsoft products.
• Strong written, oral, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, proofreading, prioritization, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a complex, demanding environment while handling confidential information and tight deadlines.

Nice to have

• Degree or academic background in molecular biology, microbiology, biological engineering, medical genetics, plant biology, science communication, or a similar discipline.
• Experience in higher education communications related to science.
