Principal Software Engineer (CRM)

Location: Mounds View, Minnesota, United States; onsite 4 days per week. Less than 10% travel is required.

Salary: $152,800–$229,200 USD per year, plus eligibility for a short-term incentive plan.

What you will do

• Evaluate, improve, and upgrade firmware and software development tools and workflows.
• Lead migration to GitHub Enterprise and adoption of GitHub Copilot and AI-assisted coding agents.
• Design, deliver, and support developer tooling hosted on AWS in partnership with a central cloud team.
• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines, reusable workflows, automation frameworks, and delivery observability.
• Train and mentor engineers on GitHub Enterprise workflows, DevOps practices, and responsible AI-assisted development.
• Troubleshoot tooling and workflow issues, support legacy solutions, and influence technical and organizational decisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, engineering, or a related technical discipline with at least 7 years of experience, or an advanced degree with at least 5 years of experience.
• Experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines, including GitHub Actions, reusable workflows, self-hosted runners, and branch or environment protection policies.
• Experience administering GitHub Enterprise, including organization and repository configuration, SSO/SCIM, Advanced Security, secret scanning, and Dependabot.
• Experience with embedded or firmware build, test, and deployment automation, source-control migration, infrastructure as code, and containerized tooling.
• Ability to communicate, train, mentor, manage change, and influence engineering teams in a regulated, safety-critical environment.
• U.S. work authorization is required; sponsorship is available for Principal-level roles and above.

Nice to have

• Experience with GitHub Copilot Business or Enterprise, Copilot Extensions, and coding agents.
• Working knowledge of AWS services such as IAM, S3, EC2/ECS/Lambda, CodeArtifact, Secrets Manager, and CloudWatch.
• Terraform or CloudFormation, Python scripting, SVN migration, and Java or Perl experience.
• Developer-tooling experience in medical devices, aerospace, automotive, or another regulated industry.
