TL;DR

Location: Tempe, Arizona, United States; onsite five days per week

Salary: $128,800–$193,200 per year in the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific California locations

What you will do

  • Develop, optimize, and transfer laser-based manufacturing processes for joining and cutting metal and glass materials.
  • Lead process innovation, equipment scouting, selection, qualification, characterization, and release to manufacturing.
  • Define process flows, requirements, control strategies, monitoring systems, and validation activities with product and process teams.
  • Apply Design for Reliability and Manufacturing, Design for Six Sigma, statistical methods, and data-driven experimentation.
  • Assess process-interface risks, coordinate risk reduction, and provide input on product and process design.
  • Monitor and resolve yield issues, implement corrective actions, and maintain quality-system documentation and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least seven years of relevant hands-on experience with laser systems and optical components; or an advanced degree with at least five years of relevant experience; or a PhD with three years of relevant experience.
  • Hands-on experience with laser systems and optical components.
  • Ability to work onsite in Tempe, Arizona, five days per week.
  • For degrees earned outside the United States, the degree must meet the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A).
  • U.S. work authorization is required; sponsorship is offered for Principal-level roles and above.

Nice to have

  • Experience with laser selection, optics package selection, laser joining, cutting, or marking.
  • G-code or other programming experience for laser-system recipe development.
  • DRM, Design for Six Sigma, Lean Sigma, or Green/Black Belt certification.
  • Knowledge of DOE, statistical analysis, Minitab, JMP, wafer fabrication, or high-volume manufacturing.
  • Advanced degree in Physics, Optics, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
