Engineer 2, Process Development (Biotechnology)

Location: San Diego, California, United States

Base salary: $82,500–$123,700 per year, plus eligible bonuses, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Develop, scale, transfer, and sustain manufacturing processes for new genomic consumables.
• Partner with R&D, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and Engineering teams on product introductions and commercialization.
• Design and analyze controlled experiments, including DOE, to improve yield, quality, process capability, and robustness.
• Lead product and process change management, including ERP product configuration and production documentation.
• Investigate technical and compliance issues using 8D, model-based problem solving, statistical analysis, and root cause methods.
• Lead technical project teams, define requirements, manage risks, and transfer processes from development through scale-up.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science, or an equivalent field, with 2+ years of relevant experience; or a PhD with relevant process development experience.
• Experience in process development, production sustaining, scale-up, and validation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and effective cross-functional collaboration.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
• Experience with statistics, SPC, and DOE is advantageous.
• Experience in high-volume manufacturing, product development, or project management is advantageous.
