Communications Manager (AI)

Location: 100% onsite at the Starbase, Texas site; not eligible for remote or hybrid work. Regular local travel to other SpaceX locations and surrounding communities is required.

What you will do

• Develop and lead communications strategies explaining industrial AI, large-scale compute, and their benefits for the country and local communities.
• Create communications materials that increase understanding of compute infrastructure and support SpaceXAI’s industry positioning.
• Provide tactical public relations and messaging support to stakeholders across SpaceXAI and relevant SpaceX partners.
• Partner with Government Affairs, national advocacy, and community outreach teams to align narratives and local execution.
• Monitor national, local, and online media for narrative risk and recommend communications responses.
• Manage communications activities during strategic priorities and crisis situations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 12+ years of experience in communications, public affairs, and content development.
• 3+ years of experience leading a team with direct reports.
• Strong technical acumen, verbal and written communication skills, strategic thinking, project management, and relationship-building abilities.
• Ability to work onsite at Starbase, Texas, with regular local travel; a valid driver’s license is required.
• Must meet ITAR eligibility requirements, including U.S. citizenship or nationality, U.S. lawful permanent residence, refugee or asylee status, or eligibility to obtain the required authorization.

Nice to have

• Experience shaping narratives for technical infrastructure, energy, utilities, data centers, AI, or similar domains.
• Ability to explain technical, environmental, and grid-related information to non-technical audiences.
• Fluency in Spanish or experience delivering community communications in English and Spanish.
• Experience with social media strategy, local conversations, negotiation, and critical decision-making.
