Staff Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Mexico City, Mexico; fully remote. Candidates must have the right to work in the jurisdiction where they work.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable software systems aligned with company goals and technical standards.
• Define coding standards, design principles, development methodologies, and technical roadmaps.
• Lead complex projects from conception through delivery in collaboration with engineering, product, and design.
• Own system and application performance, security, reliability, and risk mitigation.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, provide code review feedback, and promote continuous learning.
• Conduct root cause analysis, improve engineering practices, and communicate technical decisions to stakeholders and senior leadership.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software development experience, including large-scale systems and application architecture.
• Experience with Python, Java, C++, or JavaScript; the core stack includes Python, Flask, FastAPI, and AWS.
• Deep knowledge of software design patterns, architecture, cloud technologies, distributed systems, and microservices.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD, and automation.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and independent collaboration skills.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Nice to have

• Experience as a Tech Lead or Staff Engineer.
• Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks and data engineering best practices.
