Location: Commerce, Texas, United States; onsite staff position. Work may include evenings and weekends as required. Immigration sponsorship may be affected by current H-1B-related requirements, and the university will not pay the stated H-1B filing fee.

What you will do

  • Manage the university's primary @etamu social media accounts and maintain a consistent presence across designated platforms.
  • Develop content calendars, campaigns, and social media plans supporting student experience, enrollment, events, engagement, and brand promotion.
  • Create, write, edit, capture, and publish captions, graphics, photography, short-form video, stories, and other platform-specific content.
  • Provide live and near-live coverage of university events, campus activities, and student engagement moments.
  • Manage comments, direct messages, audience engagement, brand mentions, and social listening activities.
  • Coordinate with marketing, communications, web, photography, video, enrollment, athletics, and campus contributors while guiding student workers and contributors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, English, digital media, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least three years of related experience in social media, communications, marketing, content creation, digital engagement, or a related field.
  • Strong writing, editing, visual storytelling, verbal communication, interpersonal, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms, content strategy, engagement practices, social listening, and platform trends.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines, work independently, adapt quickly, analyze performance, and make recommendations based on audience response.
  • Ability to work in Commerce, Texas, with occasional evening and weekend work as required.

Nice to have

  • Experience in higher education, student-facing communications, or another mission-driven organization.
  • Experience managing flagship or brand-level social media accounts.
  • Experience creating photo, video, story, and short-form content for institutional or brand channels.
  • Experience covering events, analyzing content performance, or guiding student workers and contributors.
