Medical Assistant (Pediatric Specialties)

Location: Tufts Medical Center, Boston, United States; may require coverage at satellite locations.

Salary: $22.00–$25.15 per hour, based on full-time equivalent.

What you will do

• Manage patient flow and coordinate room, provider, and resource availability.
• Prepare patients, exam rooms, and medical records for provider visits.
• Record vital signs, pain levels, medication information, and patient histories.
• Assist providers and nursing staff with examinations, treatments, procedures, and specimen collection.
• Perform point-of-care testing, equipment quality checks, and clinical supply management.
• Support referrals, prior authorizations, diagnostic procedures, billing documentation, and administrative communication.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a clinical program or six months of clinical experience in a healthcare setting.
• Basic Life Support certification, or ability to obtain it within three months.
• Ability to read, write, and spell in English for documentation and message taking.
• Knowledge of universal precautions, patient handling, HIPAA, and care across different age groups.
• Basic to moderate computer skills and knowledge of electronic medical records, including Epic.

Nice to have

• Two years of medical office experience.
• Bilingual communication skills.
• Experience with electronic medical record systems.
