Cobol Developer (AI)

Location: Hybrid work based in Lisbon, 2–3 days per week. Candidates must be based in Portugal and hold Portuguese or EU citizenship, or a valid work permit.

What you will do

• Translate business requirements into robust COBOL code on legacy platforms.
• Develop and maintain systems such as securities and settlement platforms.
• Use AI-assisted code-analysis and refactoring tools to understand existing modules and safely modify impacted components.
• Build and maintain unit and integration test suites.
• Support acceptance-test planning and execution.

Requirements

• 4–6 years of relevant professional experience as a COBOL Developer.
• Expertise in Microfocus COBOL and experience with legacy platforms.
• Experience translating business requirements into COBOL code.
• Fluency in English at B2 level and Portuguese at C1 level.
• Availability for hybrid work in Lisbon 2–3 days per week, with Portuguese or EU citizenship or a valid work permit.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with PowerHouse 4GL and/or Eloquence by Marxmeier.
• Hands-on experience with Ansible, ToolChain, and Git.
